Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Pretty much every morning I drink coffee made with "extra Gary love" which is to say my bf makes me coffee to drink every morning out of love and I take a moment to appreciate it. Boyfriend or not you can start the morning off in a way that makes you feel good. A nice cup of hot coffee, a lovely chai tea, a fruit smoothie- whatever you like.
Also, after encounters with people at work who make you feel bad- make a point of making a short connection with someone at work that you enjoy. A quick phone call across the building to say hey your new board looks lovely will not only make you feel better it'll make the other person feel better too.
I like the suggestion of getting out for lunch, but if you can't a quick walk around the building after the kids have left for the day is a nice alternative. I aim for 30 minutes of exercising a day (aim, doesn't always happen).
On days I am not feeling the best I take extra time and care with my appearance. If I feel pretty externally it usually helps internally. Now for me this works because I am not one that puts on make up everyday, and rarely get dress up. But if you are, then the opposite works well too.
Also, hand lotion. Yup, I said hand lotion. Find one that you really like and can keep at your desk at work. When you need a breathable moment pull out the lotion and take a full minute to rub it into your hands. It will smell good which will help and the little mini massage of your hands will feel good too. There's a headache relieving pressure point between your thumb and pointer finger that works wonders. I am guessing there are other pressure points on your hands as well that you could try.
Hugs
Some of the smaller points take a lot of skill to hit right, but WOW it's worth it to try lol. Feels so good :)
