With anything physical...money, housing, etc...no. It's against the Rules of the Road on here and will get you and the other person banned.

Try calling 211. They are your local United Way and can help with housing, resources, etc...

Nothing was posted wrong gregsbaby. It's just sometimes people really want to help...but you just can't send money through DS...you just can't. Many people don't know that because on other social media platforms you can.

as to the OP, I would check with the department of social services as well as local churches in the area for help.

@SimpsonsOK Your reply is totally on point! Nobody ever knows how someone got homeless and yet the first thing usually is, "well they must be a druggie!" I hate taking Nyquil or Tylenol so far from a druggie I was in 2011, yet I and my oldest (he was 15) were homeless because of the housing disaster. Thank goodness I knew about my local social services and we were ok, but as you said most don't. This world really needs more compassion/empathy!

@Rich3018 do you have friends/family that may help for a bit while you're trying to get back on your feet? If not then definitely start trying to get plugged in at churches, etc. Most churches have certain days/times they give out food and/or clothes.

Homeless shelters aren't fun, but sometimes they're the first step in getting connected up with services that could help you...

I know you've said that you've tried charities before, but maybe try again.

Beyond that I really don't have many ideas.

In any case, vent away. It's rough out there, especially in the winter.

I have never asked anyone for money here or anywhere. I've never done a drug/drink in my life I suffer from mdd/ptsd/gad. I have no family/friends. It upsets me that people say you will be banned cause you ask for help maybe you would feel better to kick me when I'm down I mean really when someone is homeless there not suppose to all for help

I never said that you'd be banned for asking for help. Nor did I ever say that you asked for money on here or anywhere.

But it's like I said, what's okay on other social media isn't okay here. And a lot of people just don't know it. I HATE seeing people banned.

How about putting it this way...how CAN we help you? Directions to a shelter? Food bank? (Food banks will put together a bag of items that can be eaten without cooking, or even needing a can opener.) Often times soup kitchens are in church basements and you can at least wash up a bit (brush your teeth) in there.

I've never lived homeless, but I've lived without water. Two cups of water can clean you up a LOT. Even if you can't change all of your clothes everyday, wash and hang dry underwear/socks. (Face, brush teeth, arm pits, crotch, feet, use same water to washout socks.) Although you can't do all of that at the soup kitchen, you can carry away a bit of clean water in a plastic bottle.

Are you on the internet at the library? Often they'll have contact numbers for local resources.

no one said you will be banned for asking for help. the rule was posted simply for DS's stance on solicitation. doesn't apply to you if you aren't asking for money.

People have given you resources to help you. the number patti posted is to the salvation army in Cambridge ohio. If you cannot call and if you are accessing the internet via the library, then google it for directions.

While we can offer suggestions and support, it is up to you to take the first steps to getting that help.
