The risk of infection with this tapeworm in humans is low. The most effective way to prevent infections in pets and humans is through flea control. A child who is infected will usually pass proglottids (or what appears as rice) in a bowel movement or find them stuck to the skin around the anal area.

How is tapeworm infection treated?
Treatment for both animals and humans is simple and very effective. A prescription drug called praziquantel is given, either orally or by injection (pets only). The medication causes the tapeworm to dissolve within the intestines. Since the worm is usually digested before it passes, it may not be visible in your dog's stool. The drugs are generally well-tolerated.

1) cut an apple slice and hold it to your mouth. If they come crawling out to get the apple, try to pull it out of your throat. Be careful they can break and you don't want half a work sticking in your throat (not a tape worm at least).
2) hold a raw piece of meat near your ass. Same thing. When those nastys come wiggling out your butt, grab 'em and slowwwwwlllyyyy pull them out, one by one. What kind of meat you are wondering? T-Bone steak. They seem to enjoy the T-Bone best.
My GF's Dad had a cat with worms once and when he was taking a nap he woke to the smell and sight of cat vomit and worms piled up on his Chest!!!!! Blech................

My son got a tapeworm when he was young and got sick. That is how I knew what it was.. For hell sakes.. I have told that cat time and time again to quit eating those freaking mice.. roflmao
I had a dog that vomited tapeworms once. I have a fear of parasites so it freaked me out big time having to clean it up.
