I am having vivid flashbacks to when I was hospitalized last year for suicidal ideation. It was a traumatic experience for me and I don't like to think about it. Having the flashbacks is keeping me from being able to focus on my homework and studying and I'm feeling depressed again. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do to help yourself?

My GP and psychologist feel there is no way I would ever be hospitalized. I'm not 'High Risk'.

The scariest aspect of that was: at the time the GP was telling me this I was playing a banjo up a tree, naked.

unless, of course, its true stevey. ive had a friend of mine walk out in the street butt naked thinking she was a ghost. she was trying to see if the cars would go through her. she was taken to the hospital for short observation and then sent on her merry way without much assistance.

I've been hospitalized 4 times. I have no flash backs. I felt safe there.
I would go back there if I ever needed to.

Wow.
I was hospitalized exactly a year ago because of SI and Depression...Its definitly hard. The flash backs are equally as hard to deal with. The only thing that seemed to help was friends and family. Sometimes positive thinking and imagery would help too. It just takes time. Im here for you though!! I feel exactly the same way right now so if you wanna talk, just message me..

It seems you are only admitted nowadays if you're a danger to others rather than yourself.

Nope, the Law states that you have to be a risk to yourself OR others.
Even had your naked banjo tree story been true, it wouldn't warrant a stay in hospital, just care in the community which is the UKs preference of treatment.

hi i've tried 4x and was in the hospital its scary, but I try to remember all the family that would miss me so much and I think how would I feel if one of them died. That keeps me from doing it again. I understand the pain and u think thats the answer but its not. This coming from experience. I hope u have a good family who cares about u i don't know u but I care. Have a good nite.We can chat if u want.

I have never been hospitalized. Mostly because even when I should have been I lied to my psychologist. I did have a friend who was put in the hospital. And the stories that I heard from what the psych wards are like scared the crap out of me.
