ropped my best friends and boyfriend due to them treating me badly a couple of years ago thinking things would get better. I've been going downhill ever since.
I've been putting all my effort into trying to get better. I make plans with friends and when I do go out I make myself be good company despite how bad i feel and we usually have a good time.. but feel I don't have any deep connection with them and am just going through the motions because it's what's supposed to make me feel better. When i get home I'm back to feeling terrible. People rarely make plans with me. I never get any texts. I don't "wallow" even though that's what I feel like doing. I've put all my energy into my university work in spare time to keep myself occupied (whilst my few friends are out socializing or with boyfriends) but somehow my grades have slipped (and theirs haven't, which sucks). I've also been looking relentlessly for a job only to be rejected about 20 times now.. I'm also not doing great financially. I've been trying to think of hobbies that I can do, but I can't think of anything I would enjoy and it just seems like it would be tiring to force myself. I want to genuinely enjoy something. I did start running for a while but I'm struggling to find the motivation to do that anymore. Sometimes i can't do anything and just sleep or watch tv and feel empty. I see people going on holidays with their friends on facebook and I would love to do that, but feel like i'm missing out because nobody would come with me, and don't feel safe going on my own as a 20 year old girl. It also just makes me feel even worse doing things on my own. I feel like i try my hardest and nothing works out for me.
I recently met this guy who does spark something in me. I had a gut feeling that he was bad news but he grew on me. I tried to maintain my own (crappy) life I did have so I didn't get to attached. He chased me (initiated all contact and dates) and told me he wasn't just in it for sex. I was planning on holding off sex but after a month I gave in.. now I feel empty. He had seen me 2 more time after that and got more affectionate i thought, now he's gone. Now I've had sex with him, I'm desperately looking for things to get my mind off him, like a job or volunteering or plans with friends, but nothing is working out. I try to talk myself out of liking him so strongly because it's unrealistic but I look forward to his text every day. I check his social networking sites. I can even smell him sometimes.. I'm going crazy. Having feelings for guys (which is rare) seem to be the only thing that makes me feel anything and past relationships failing have made me feel suicidal. I try to have a life but I just am numb to everything else and it never works out.. i wish other things did make me happy. This is a guy I've only known for a month and feel like this because he's all that seems to make me happy. I know he isn't feeling like this about me. I wish it wasn't this way and feel pathetic.
He now has stopped contacting me although he posts on facebook. The worst thing is is that I've made this mistake before. I've gone almost 2 years since then recovering and vowed I would never rush into anything with a guy and getting my self esteem back, now it's all gone again. I feel like i'm only worthy of being a sexual object and not worthy of love. I want this regret and depression to end. Please no nasty comments or lectures, I know I was wrong.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I think the issue is you have low self esteem and you are trying to use a relationship with a man to make you feel better. Then when things don't work out you completely fall apart to the point of being suicidal because you had your self worth wrapped up in another person. That's not good for you at all. No one can provide your self worth but you.
I also have low self esteem, but I am not seeking a relationship despite my loneliness because I want to work on myself. I do not want to become emotionally dependent or financially dependent on another person. I've seen people who have been emotionally or financially dependent on another and witnessed how it completely blew up on them.
If you had better self worth it would not completely destroy you when something fell apart. It always hurts and takes some time to heal when a relationship has ended, but it should not bring you to the point of suicide.
You are human. Don't beat yourself up for this, but use this as a reason to change. You don't want to be stuck in that cycle. You are worthy of love, but you need to love yourself first.
Have you ever sought the help of a professional?
As for hobbies, sometimes you don't know what you are into until you try it. Maybe try several things out to see what fits.
what was good and magnify the bad stuff. Staying in the moment can make the difference between getting very depressed and not.
Everywhere you look, there's somebody feeling bad over things they see on Facebook. It was intended as a way for people to share things with family and friends, but so many people use it to spy on someone, or to compare someone else's, very often, embellished account of their life with all the details of your own life. Most people, if inclined, could paint a very enviable picture of the high points of their own life. example: you recently had an affair with an amazing guy,
who pursued you and flattered you -- it was like something out of a
novel. It makes you happy to know that there are still guys out there who will court you and date you, and make you feel like you're the only
woman in the world. You just leave off the negative interpretations.
Hope things are better soon.
Sending you good thoughts.
Work on a FRIENDSHIP, either with a guy or girl. Friendships can be pretty draining and stressful too, I know, but at least you've got something a little deeper than just the flesh and have a confidante and someone whom you can really share a long-lasting soul connection with.
