So.. I injured my wrist snowboarding a few weeks ago.
I went in for an xray a couple days after it happened because it was getting worse and worse. They did an xray but it was inconclusive b/c of too much swelling, so they put a half cast thing on to immobilize my thumb. Went back 10 days later for a new xray and this time a small, paper thin crack showed up so they put me in a cast. Had a follow up appointment yesterday and the crack didn't show up on the xray, but apparently most of the time a break on this particular bone (scaphoid - its between the thumb and wrist) doesnt show on an xray and so the only way to know for sure is to have a bone scan done. Because they couldn't tell they decided this time not to put another cast on... which I think is crazy because if it IS broken then I'll probably end up doing further damage over the course of the week (have bone scan booked for next thursday). The part that pisses me off is that the doctor was a total bitch! She was like "well I'm not going to cast it if it doesn't need it" so I told her my concerns and then asked if htere was anything I should do.. she looked at me with a completely condescending look and said, very rudely "well just use common sense - if something hurts don't do it."
The clinic was suuuper busy that after noon, which tells me she was jurt trying to get me out the door as fast as possible and just didn't give a fuck about my wrist. But I had made an appointment and I freakin deserve to be treated and cared for properly!!!
Anyways, so now I am walkin around without anything protecting my wrist. And it fucking hurts!
