For the first time in 8 years Im not going to be alone for Christmas!!
With that said I got so excited about being included I offered to host the dinner. I asked the lady next to me if she could help me make Christmas goodies and she made me a Christmas cake. I found short bread recipes that look fairly fool proof. My anxiety about making a horrible mess of things is getting the better of me right now. Im so scared of ruining everyones holiday...all the what ifs are racing through my mind. Will I burn the turkey will the gravy be horrible...the list is endless. The lady next door said I should ask a family member to stay over the night before and help. . I want to do this all myself, I NEED to do this to prove to myself I CAN do it. If you hear fire trucks on Christmas then Ive burned my place to the ground! I both very excited and terrified at the same time.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I hope and expect it goes well for you.
And then all the neighbours turned up with bits and pieces of this and that and laid them all on the table and the dinner was a success.
do NOT forget: xmas dinner is about people having a good time together. It is not about the food. :) Don't do the old hostess error of spending so much energy fussing over the event that you don't get to enjoy it.
:)
Since your main goal is to prove you can do it, keep all the parts of it as simple as possible.
Salad? Bag salad is a great way to do. Cut open the bag and empty into a bowl and you are done!
Rolls? Love them Hawaiian Rolls! Just need to be warmed up.
Main Dish? Pick something easy. I like the spiral cut ham for several reasons. It is already cooked, so you are just warming it up, and it is already sliced, so all you have to do is cut off hunks of the slices.
Enjoy, and keep it simple!
I know you can do it!
I believe in slow cookers to keep the food warm. I make it ahead of time and put it on to warm up. Then I know the food will be ready and taste good.
I even buy a ham, slice it the day before and put it in the slow cooker with pineapple juice. Went over great at Easter.
The idea is to enjoy the company, not fuss over the food
THAT WAS A GOOD JOKE..............................

Stuff like that.
I got up at 5am on the 25th in a panic so first things first I took a hot shower (that always seems to have a calming effect on me) and the the task of cutting up all the veg and getting the stuffing ready. I had everything done by 11am, with the turkey going in at 12 I went for a walk (another calming thing) and when I got back in went the turkey. Everyone showed up at 5 and dinner was at 6. The night ended at 10pm when the 2 year old passed out on the couch.
My first Christmas in 8 years and I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF and it was a success!!! So this is what it feels like to feel happy. Im going to ride this as long as I can. Thanks to everyone for your support and suggestion I did use a few of them!
