My doctor is taking me off of Effexor starting this week and putting me on Prozac. I am a little concerned of the withdrawl effects but he is tapering me off slowly. Effexor has had many side effects for me. Weight gain and sweating are the worst, but now sexual desire is a close second. Can anyone offer me any advice to help me get through this transition? I have been on various doses of Effexor for a year now and my depression and anxiety are at their worst! I remain hopeful to find a treatment that will work for me!

I'd say start low on prozac, then add if you need it. Only do it little by little though, cause when I got on too high of a dose, it sent me into worse depression than without it.

I did that same switch about 3 months ago and it has saed me. The sweating on the Effexor was horrible, along with some other issues. Try not to worry about the withdrawals. I felt like I had the flu. So hopefuly you have time to just rest while your body goes through the trransition. Good luck!

You will find something though! You might also ask about Lexapro if your bloodpressure is good.

My dose of effexor was increased a month ago and the sweating is even worse. As for your transision I would take time off work (if your in employment) and give yourself some me time, try to relax as much as possible.

I really hope that he is taking you off slowly . I had to go off cold turkey and I was so sick and disorented. I wish the best for you!!

I switched from Effexor to Prozac last summer and found it relatively okay.

The worst I got with the prozac initially was a feeling of an electric shock going through my body every 10 - 20 seconds, it was quite random.

Unfortunately, prozac didn't do much for me, but side-effects wise it has been one of the friendliest anti-depressants for me.

oh gosh I'm reading this and I go see the doc tomorrow as some of you know. I'm worried he is putting me back on effexor...

i have been on wellbutin..... zoloft a couple times........ lexapro. was awful for me. Cymbalta and now Prozac...... i like the prozac.... started at the lowest dose and they did move it up...... and did ya know that they have it where you can take it once week now???

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
