Hi,
I have a thought that I wanted to put out there. I have been attending a group for about a year and a half which has been extremely helpful. It is not traditional therapy but is more practical and solution based which I like. I have noticed that from time to time that some of the groups can get a change of tone. Lately, the coach has not had a lot of energy to put towards us because of his day job. I'm sorry he is going through this stress.
I was a little disappointed when I saw how some of the group members responded. This guy is super talented and works nearly for free. A lot of people get great benefits and it is a free group.
Enter the attendees. It is extremely hot here, but one person came in wearing a jacket and hat (we live in a desert) so she requested we turn off the air. It got so hot in there I almost had to leave. Boiling. The coach stated at the beginning that he was drained and tired, and that he was training someone to do this too, so he handed it to her. The attendee didn't like what was happening, and said she didn't want to work with her, and there was this minor melee. The woman got super offended and stormed out, and then the attendee got mad at him. Meanwhile it's freaking boiling in this room.
It's a good thing I did not go there in a needy state, or need much time and attention. I mainly went down there to give some information to some of these people because they can't be bothered to pick up the phone. I get that people are having issues and go to group, but come on. At some point I feel like people need to behave like adults, not demand that the universe revolves around them-let's turn off the air in the desert cause I'm cold and let's bitch and moan and storm out. What a wasted evening. This is like the second time in a row. Grow the hell up, really. It struck me as a bunch of immature dramatics and it turned me off. Are people learning anything from this?? I know we all need help but one thing I learned from my parents, especially my dad, was social graces. You don't expect all will be handed to you when you are a guest in someone else's home.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
VERY WELL SAID. I think you answered your own question and good for you. You are right, there are so many people out there that are so selfish, rude, disrespectful, and arrogant, it's just unbelievable. And the sad part is that they figure it's free so they can act any way that they choose. Not so.
I would have been upset with that person just as your counselor was. I may not have been so patient with this person. It is not fair to the rest of the group. The world does not revolve around one person. I'm sorry that your support group was ruined by this person. I hope they have enough respect for themselves that they apologize in the next meeting. You are a good person, I can tell by your words. You were raised right. Tell your parents I said thank you. Hugs GB
No one pointed out that it was unbearably hot and that the a/c should be turned back on?
The leader didn't make the connection between people getting angry and aggressive and it being hotter than hell in there?
It's a shame it's turning into something unpleasant, or at least two times in a row. The people you are trying to call who don't bother to answer, must not need the information too badly.

I have to agree that people just need to grow up and act like adults. It's one thing to express your feelings, and it's another to act like a child. Nothing excuses behavior like that from an adult.
Have you talked to the group leader about it one-on-one, or the new person he is training?? That might be helpful so that they can try to keep the group focused on healthy topics, and the people who can't do that can leave.
Again, I'm sorry this is happening. I hope it is resolved soon.
If you don't wanna go there, don't go there. If people get you fed up, take a break from them from time to time and go into people-free nature. It's what I do.
I have a friend who is so narcissistic and histrionic I feel like telling her,
