Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I've been on a diet since January 1st. I am so determined to be thin. So far, I have only lost about 20 pounds. Last week I was more active than usual but yesterday, I was still at 205. I have a class reunion coming up. I am on the reunion committee. I was really depressed. It doesn't help that my energizer bunny best friend has lost the same amount of weight in about 2 months. She counts calories and exercises obsessively. She has a really good metabolism. I see my doctor tomorrow. He ordered bloodwork. I have an underactive thyroid. I woke up real calm this morning. I have to go to ShopRite and I decided that I will go to Goodwill while I am out. It's senior day. Then I talked to my Aunt and she brought me down. No matter where she goes, people treat her "like hell" and steal from her. This is in her mind. Trust me, she is the patient from hell. She's extremely bossy and demanding. She can be maddening. And I get really mad at her kids, especially her daughter, who rarely visits or calls but managed to stop a much needed ER visit. Last year, I got out of all responsibility for my Aunt but it ended up back in my lap. It pisses me off.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.
Maybe try to make daily walks part of your routine. The more you do it, the more you will want to do it.
The key to exercise is to be consistent. A little bit each day is better than doing one big huge workout say, once a month. Even a little walk is better than nothing. But doing it consistently is the key. And yes, cut your portions, look out for those hidden calories such as butter, sauces, salad dressing, etc. Drink plenty of water, too.
Good luck, you can do this!
