Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

A friend of me called me yesterday and was just complaining vehemently about another friend of ours who is a real problem. She launched into this huge thing about how she thinks our common friend is a narcissist because she was watching about narcissists on tik tok.... For some reason this really bothered me. I mean it's crossed my mind as well, this friend does act entitled and gets angry when she doesn't get her way. Talking about it made me feel worse though. It's just all doom with some of the people in this group. I didn't realize this when I got to know them.
I've talked a lot about this friend group in therapy, about how I think it might be hurting my mental health. After I get off of calls or group hangouts, I frequently feel even more depressed and worse than ever. I've been making up a lot of excuses lately about why I can't hang out. It is true our friend acts narcissistically. I can't diagnose someone with NPD nor would I want to. The whole thing is very upsetting. The entire point of hangouts is to just have fun and kick back. This really is beginning to be too much. I feel overwhelmed. My friend ranted for about an hour about the rat infestation in her house. It just seems like there is always something wrong. As she was talking about all of this, in the same breath she was implying that her brother in law is a narcissist as well, I've also mused on that. They tried very hard to get me romantically connected to him. This guy is a real problem, he doesn't ever work and seems to hook into women. He was interested in me and we had a date scheduled but I cancelled it. He just seemed to bring a whole host of issues so I opted out.
I've attempted, but not too successfully, to make new friends over the past couple of years, just something more positive. I've talked about this in therapy too. I don't need more weighing on my mental health in addition to all of this. Hangouts have become so fraught and full of conflict that I just don't know what to do.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
