Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Do you want to know what I've been realizing about DailyStrength.org? Ever since I've signed up for it(which was sometime last week), I noticed a lot about all of us. I noticed that we all share similar feelings and symptoms of depression, anxiety and panic. And when we see someone post something we're experiencing, we comfort them. We also give the best advice to them and it helps them. It's funny though, because the advice we give, we rarely ever take even though we know it'll really help us. Why is that? Why don't we comfort ourselves and reassure ourselves that we are and are gonna be fine? Why don't we uplift ourselves when nobody else does? Why don't we face our fears like we suggest others to do? Why do we know all the answers but don't use them? A lot of us have gone through or are going through the most traumatic experiences yet we seem to let everyone else know they are strong and they have every right to think and feel as they do and this moment too, shall pass. Where is that person at when we need him/her and why doesn't he/she help us? But it makes me think. Am I doing this to myself? Do I have the power to be happy and strong and am I choosing to not be those things? The answer is yes. And yes, as uncertain as I always was when I had my first panic attack, I am certain that this is true. I need to be that uplifting person that I am to others, to myself. Myself needs me. We must take and use the steps/advice we give other people. We are all stronger than we probably know. It is within us to change our emotions and feelings. It won't be easy and it's definitely a process but we must start it and trust the process whilst trusting ourselves that we will find a way. Because we always do. Love.
