Yeah.....we did not always get along but today just feels ....odd. Just feels like another day. My in-laws are not even available...MIL has food poisoning :P Husband wants to take me out to eat though...so that's cool :)
Just a little story....my Mommom (mom's mom) and I always shared this day, as it was her birthday as well. I always felt that made me special, and that maybe even I was her favorite grandchild because of it. She was an amazing woman. She lost her husband from injuries he suffered after a mining accident. He was the love of her life and she never remarried. She had a great sense of humor and she rarely complained about anything. She loved sweets and was quite the character. She passed years ago, at 94. When she was turning 90, and i reminded her we had a birthday coming, she asked me..."how old am i going to be?" And I said "you will be 90 Mommom!" And she said "9()?!? No wonder I don't feel so good!" LOL! I recently started researching our ancestry only to find her birthday was never March 16, it was March 14. I spoke to some family members and they KNEW. No one wanted to tell me. But you know what? It does not change anything. I still celebrate with her by placing flowers on her grave every March 16th. It looks like today is a day for remembering :)

Huge hugs to you, I know that these firsts can be hard, so by all means go out with your hubby and have a great time! Perhaps a salute to your mom and your mommom would be something to do?

I can understand today feeling 'odd' , being your first birthday without her. What a great story about you Mommom. Sounds like she sure was an amazing woman. :)
