Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I've been agonizing probably the entire eighteen months about a man at my job who has been totally obsessed with me. He would send me suggestive texts at night when I was at home and hang out at my office every morning. He would get angry when I would leave to go to lunch and just cause all around problems. I was so scared of him. He had been "talked to" by managment a few times, and I had sent him texts and told him to leave me alone. None of it worked.
I don't know exactly how, but I got to the point where I was falling apart. What I think triggered it was that I got a new boss and she was trying to resolve workplace conflicts by having us sit in a circle, talk, and then hug each other. I was basically forced to hug him and this sent me over the edge. He bothers other women too. When I first met him and I told my work team that I didn't think I wanted to go out for drinks because the last time I did with a work team, the bartender basically spiked my drink. That is when he started in, sending me texts and night and wanting to "talk more and further our discussion" about the time my drink was spiked by the bartender. He said, "you're going to fit in great here," and started sending me texts of himself holiding up a drink and saying "cheers."
After 18 months of this, and now a new boss, I came to work to find him standing at my door, waiting for me. I was frozen and just didn't know what to do. I've stopped sleeping at night and was thinking about s*icide all the time. I was talking about it a lot with my therapist, and experiencing some of it in my real life too from someone else.
I finally just took the risk and called HR, and they asked for a written statement. I just couldn't go back to hospital. It was exactly this that got mein there the first time, except it was by my boss. I told. them. everything. I wrote a two page document of everything, including him bringing me gifts and alcohol into my classroom. I was so anxious going back to work today and was panicking all weekend and experiencing severe depression, just barely able to get up and get out of bed. Just sitting and sobbing.
My new boss came in and said that she saw the statement. She told me that she ripped him a new one, that he is a mess and doesn't get along with anyone at work and really needs to get it together. She said it was really disgusting and inappropriate. It is. I didn't see him around today.
This could have gone any way. But for the first time, he was not hovering around me and I was so relieved. I was starting to spin out of control. I was not wanting to eat or go anywhere becuase I was so afraid to go to work and I had a person like this in my actual life too. It brought up a lot.
It also cleared up my mind on things that I want to do when I am off work, like take classes and look for other jobs. She also said that I didn't have to hug anyone or participate in anything I didn't want to. That was another thing I brought up to HR.
I was so relieved, because I felt like my entire life was out of control. Between a stalker and work and almost in my actual life, my life was a living hell.

I have toys. So the ones I have not used or need any more, are gone in the trash. One of my toys is just a regular hand held massager with an attachment. The other is a real insertable toy. This morning I ordered a new toy with attachments. It is small and has a brush like attachment and the other looks like a rose with a tiny tongue. I'll get it in about 2 weeks. Rechargable and...

I can't believe this has gone on this long. So I don't have much hope of getting a tech job, but I saw an educational job that I thought might be really good. It would have been working at a university supporting high school students who are taking college classes. I did a mock interview with a friend and prepared extensively. It was at the university that I graduated from. I was very excited...

Not only was that coworker beyond inappropriate but the boss who made you hug him was unbelievably inappropriate too!
I can see why you were spinning out.
It was really brave of you to go to HR and submit a written statement especially after previous bosses gave you no reason to think you’d be taken seriously. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you!
I hope things get easier for you soon :)
Honestly, that was very courageous.
