Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have been recommended three things that are really helping me
one
a light box for light therapy - took a while to kick in with some odd side effects (a bit like starting anti d's)
two
supplementing my diet with a B vit complex (just to make sure I have adequate amounts of ALL the B vits)
three
a book called recovery of the inner child - I am working through it and its helpful
I have in the past taken another supplement 5 HTP a precursor the body needs to make seretonin = you can also check your diet for foods containing tryptophan - I know people that that has helped
the earlier you recognize it and start, I think the happier you will be in your later years. go ahead and jump right it, start the therapy you need and then the meds, I wish I would have started sooner. Hugz dear, you are a brave young girl, I think things will look up for you once you start.
I was seeking therapy then my co pay went up and I couldnt afford to go. I am lucky at this moment that I have food in my house. I have paid all the bills and have 80 dollars left for two weeks cuz I get paid every two weeks. I tried explaining my fincial situation to the therapist i was seeing but they werent willing to take less :/ I dont have much fincial help from my family... I have tried medicine but I really think therapy would help more in the long run.
