Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

For things like cleaning up the kitchen, I break it down into smaller tasks. First I throw away trash, then I put food away, then I make sure the table is cleared, then I start rinsing dishes and putting them in the dishwasher.
Sometimes well meaning people mess me up by disrupting my methods. I "need" space to work, so I will leave some dirty things on the stove or buffet or where ever while I focus on getting a batch of stuff in the dishwasher. Once that is done I get the next batch of stuff and work on it.
BREAK IT DOWN INTO SMALL TASKS.

One method I tried the last time I needed to do a major cleaning (before I had a friend and his tornado kids stay with me), I made a list of each room I needed to tackle. I numbered them, then used a random number generator online. Whichever task came up, I cleaned it top to bottom (more or less). Then another spin on the number picker, do that one. It might not work if you're better with the do a little then break method, but that one didn't work for me, I had to find what worked for me.
I did not clean my room for 6 months and I was also overwhelmed every time I walked into it.
Yesterday, I found the strength...it only took 1.5 hours and now I feel so proud and less overwhelmed. You have to do it and get thru it to feel better.
I say that we all tackle some cleaning this weekend and share the sense of accomplishment at the end.
