Feeling like such a disappointment

I'm 43 and I feel like a failure. I can't do anything. I drive a school bus but may need to look for another job, and I feel like I am not cut out for anything. I'm so depressed....I feel like I can't do anything right. I'm stressing my family out to the max with my crazy thoughts. I just want it to go away. I want to look forward to something...but can't think of a single thing. I want it to stop. I want to stop crying. I want to make sense to those around me. My husband keeps asking me what's wrong...but how do I say...I DON'T KNOW!!!!! and make him understand??

I would strongly advise you discuss this with your family doctor. Could be early onset menopause ... or?

I was actually at my family doctor a week and a half ago and she sees no signs of perimenopause yet....I have depression, anxiety, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia. I see a counselor every two weeks. I'm just a bit of a mess...falling apart, and my failures in life are just on my mind. Trying to hang on...but will probably call my primary tomorrow for some help.

Driving a school bus seems like a blah job until we see what happens when people don't do it well. Personally, I think your job is among the most important. A lot of this is perception.

Many janitors are unhappy, but one man in a hospital talked about how important is job was, that people want the assurance of seeing a clean and neat hospital. He said it gave him job to realize he was doing his part.

When we're feeling at our lowest it's natural to think of our failures. We're our own worse critics. (look at me for instance, I can't even work. I'm 100lbs overweight. I'm divorced. I could go on). What's hard is to look at our successes no matter how small they are. Self love. (I make people laugh. I cook an awesome hot dog. I haven't killed anybody....yet). Part of it is redefining what success is. Being a bus driver is an important job and the fact that you get out and do it even though you may not feel like it is impressive. Also, Looking forward to something is important, but it's more important to live in the moment. Listen to the laughter of children. Feel the sun on your skin. Smell the soap. It makes a difference to get out of your head and just "experience" if that makes sense. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs to you.
