Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I got laid off from my job. They said it was "organizational changes." I answered phones for a college campus; their "changes" were to try to get the workers to answer their own phones. As someone who tried transferring calls to those morons for nearly two years, I can guarantee you just how badly that'll work. But my whole life is screwed up thanks to the idiot ideas of a new boss who wasn't there to understand why they set up a call center in the first place. He always talked about how he wanted us all to "be a team," and evidently his idea of a "team" was kicking off one of the few people who didn't take off every other week (I'm not kidding, I was the only person in my department who had entire months where they never took off). I have bills I have to pay, and not much to pay them with. My car quit working, so I had to get a new one (new to me, anyway), which not only cost me a costly downpayment, but also an extra bill at the end of every month. I've lost count of how many applications I've turned in; on one website alone (and I check many) I last saw I'd submitted 49. Not a word back from anyone. I have a college degree. I have experience. Doesn't matter, no one's called me back, and I've applied for everythign from retail cashier to assistant manager. That degree does nothing for me except add an extra $200 a month I have to pay for the next 10 years. I tried to join the National Guard, both for the money and because I'd always wanted to serve in that way. Nope, too many past health problems. I can understand that, but still, it feels like nothing I do works. I don't know what else I can do. I keep submitting applications, but every one feels more hopeless than the one before it.
