I would start off by trying to better yourself. Easier said then done right? Try only having 1-2 drinks a day. Go for walks. Get yourself out of your house because that will not help. While you’re on your walks go into stores, restaurants, anything and ask if they need extra help. Apply online. Just keep trying ok?

Fairly obvious .... Need to get and stay on the wagon and get out and find a job.

I know that is over simplifying ... but it is the bald truth.

Alcohol is a depressant, if you're taking any anti-depressant meds for the Depression, every drink you take is just making them ineffective and fueling your Depression. Are their AA meetings in your area that you could go to for Support? Its usually easier to stop an addictive behavior when you have support and someone to reach out to in the hard times. Getting that under control will help you build your ego and think of yourself in a better light. It will help you have a more positive attitude. Do you see a Therapist, that would probably help as well. Sometimes working at Temp Agencies and just getting back in the routine of working can help lead to a steady more permanent job.

Alcohol is a band-aid. I was in you exact situation many years ago for about a year. What I did was come to regard alcohol as a date of money which was in scare supply. Every day I wen alcohol free became a success that I could build on. Need these as I did not experience many successes in replies for potential jobs. I also made a habit of going to the library daily for the usual job searches and distraction in the form of reading current magazines. Adding a routine to the day that normally would have been covered by going to work helped.

The doctors put me on naltrexone which helps the cravings and I can’t drink on that med bc the combination is deadly. My doc also explained alcohol is the exact opposite of my anti depressant. Still trying to find a job. Just having a hard time coping and I get lonely being at home all the time. but thank you all for the support. It means a lot

With my depression I need a job to get me out of my home

There’s an AA meeting nearby that I plan on attending and I’m keeping up with my outpatient therapy. It’s just that I pushed everybody away

Yah working @ home wouldn't get you outside but could start you with some income. Something for now.

I am so sorry you are having a hard time right now. Please just remember this isn't permanent. I like the idea a PP gave about going to the library. You can get help with resumes and job hunting while also being around people. You can also practice not pushing people away. You can start small just by making requests and engaging in small talk and then build from there. I like how courageous you are by reaching out for help. Not getting lost in my head was difficult for me, too, but I started trying to figure out what I was thankful for even if it was just nice weather or a cashier who was helpful. That gave me something positive to replay instead of the negative. Praying you are able to overcome these obstacles one day at a time! I hope the job hunting goes well!
