Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Read it, and I think the depressed would understand how it brings some warmth.
"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand (currently reading - very absorbing)
Anything by Stephen King or Dean R. Koontz (I love horror)
Almost anything by Normad Spinrad. Some of his stuff isn't quite as absorbing as others, but I loved "Bug Jack Barron" and "Little Heros"
"The World According to Garp" by John Irving (is that the right author?)
"Kinflicks" by Lisa Alther (extremely funny and absorbing, ok my sense of humor may be a bit off... but I do remember laughing out loud in several parts)
"Where Have You Been All These Years, DeeDee Whooster", I don't remember the author for this one either, but it made me laugh out loud in places as well. This one is geared towards young adults and is probably on any banned book list that includes Judy Blume (I loved her books as well when I was a teen).
I also love science fiction and black and Russian literature.
There is so much more I could list. I just wish that reading were easier for me so I could read more than I do. Bummer...

Also what's interesting is that (before he meets her) he's walking down the street and asks this person for some information. The guy won't give him an answer but he does reach into his pocket and gives him a book. The book is all about him!! The guy who is depressed reads about himself and what is problems are & what he should do about it.
Can you imagine? If someone wrote a book about you and your problems, potential solutions, what would they say??
I read A LOT if I continually have new reading material, and have read favorites several times each. I can finish a novel in a day or two if I have enough peace around me.
Don Qixote-Cervantes
Around the world in 80 days
"My Side of the Moutain" author unk 2me.
Read it twelve times-straight on through, yes 12. It helped me xcape a very trying time in my life but in doing so I learned 2 ignore my surroundings when things could have been fixed or I could have been pulled out. Bad habits are hard 2 break.
Now any non-fiction but not murder stuff, oh NO!!!
