Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Sometimes the family of those with mental illness need counseling to cope with the situation. .You can’t stop someone from drinking or harming themselves. They have to want to recover and be willing to work through the steps to do it. It can be very painful. I am going through exposure therapy to try to separate my emotions from my trauma. Trauma survivors will never be without the memory of what happened, they can only find ways to cope. The best methods are healthy ones like journaling, relaxation, exercise, finding a way to distract yourself but sometimes those don’t even help.
If you don’t have a therapist already, I would suggest talking to one. It can help. You have to decide if you can live with her problems. If you can’t it’s ok to walk away. You have to make the decision that is best for your well being. She may never change. It sounds like you tried to help. I hope you seek help and find peace. Best wishes.
You stay positive :):)
