Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I just recently, 3 days ago, got my heart broken pretty badly. I did not do anything wrong, but he says that he doesn't feel the same way that he used to about me. It was completely and totally out of the blue.. and I keep trying to ask him what I did to make him feel this way and he will not respond to me. I felt like dying, and decided it would be best for me to drop my classes for this semester and go be with my mom for awhile during my grieving. However, I still feel very alone and can't eat or sleep. We also work together, and my bosses were nice enough to let me take a personal break for a while but I am very nervous to return. I'm trying not to let this break up destroy me but it is doing just that. I have been drinking heavily to try and numb the pain but it just feels like it gets worse. I'm very much so still in love with him, and what hurts the most is that I always find myself in really toxic, abusive relationships. This one was the first person I have ever loved that was nothing but perfect for me. Everything about the relationship was perfect in my eyes, but clearly not in his. And there is nothing I can do to change his mind.
Does anyone know this feeling of worthlessness/have any encouragement or advice to help me cope with this issue in a healthy manner?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
A relationship between two people, who are seeking for a healthy love connection, is an ongoing quirky process and literally has to develop in resolute stages. In your situation, the logical behavior for him is that he hears what you have to say in the matter, respectively. And it could be that he's simply waiting or going through a period of silence for the sake of thinking over his complex feelings for honest reasons to why he chose to breakup. If you can bear to do so, give him more time to take appropriate action and open the heavy doors of communication.
Just to assure you I do understand how common your doubts are, and I know that no person is invincible when it comes to heartache; we are all vulnerable during such times. When I was dating and a breakup occurred, I would try to find good ways to protect myself by focusing on not becoming a doormat for some guy's ego. Naturally, you have very strong feelings which may be attracting bad ideas to cope now. Because by quitting a semester at school, taking to strong drinks, and avoiding work will only cause further worries. Although I do agree with your idea of staying close to your mom or other trusted friends and family is a good objective for support. Yet you are going to have to begin a new and better plan-out for sensible ways to handle breakups. And make it first on the list of plans to forgive yourself because no one remains a happy lover during hours of emotional fallout. Search online or through books for practical ideas for opening lines of communication with your boyfriend. Though, by all means, please avoid indulging in bad habits, so that you may think clearly for insights and guidance into stronger future relationships. Explore new and useful ideas and I hope for the happiness you long for as well.
I am leaving you a link of useful and helpful information which explains some of the signs of heartbreak you experience, KD. I hope that this article is a comfort.

Yes, moving on can be hard. I understand the job thing; working with somebody you broke up with can be very hard. But dropping school? Any way you can keep at it? At least keep a couple of classes? This puts you in control of your life rather than events being in control.
Gentle hugs
You won't understand why you broke up for maybe a year. And it won't even matter what either of you says, because neither of you can even say. You can't expect an explanation from someone who leaves you. It's an evolutionary process you have to go through alone. (Like when I got my romance novel rejected by the publisher with a 'thank you, unsuccessful' note. It was for me to discover what I had done wrong.)
The best thing you can do is minimise the damage you're doing to your life. And you're not doing that. You have to change tack here: yes you're broken hearted. But no, quitting your life won't help.
It'll just escalate the damage.
man up, get back into it, at the least it'll keep you busy.
And just remember: you've had one boyfriend who wasn't a giant failure of a boyfriend. This shows there are better things in your future. Not this guy, no. But maybe the next, because your taste in men is improving. And' that's great. :)
