I know I have not been here as I have been so tied up with my own woes, especially since Bill has died... But I have got myself in a horrible situation and wonder if anyone can help me... Now what I am about to tell you is not a *brag* just a true fact and I am going crazy over it..

My ex died a long time back which the older members here know, He left me a small fortune that I should have set on and let it grow interest.. I did pay off my house and am so happy for that as most everybody has money woes and I would not have had any if I would have played safe.

To make a long story short, when I am manic from bipolar, I buy hoards of jewelery on ebay and then get guilty and resell it back on ebay. It keeps me busy and out of trouble with my wandering thoughts.. Ok here is the point I am getting at.. I work a real job and made $33,000. Well paypal, that is who takes care of the money that I buy and sell on ebay, and they sent me a 1099 for sales last year of $77,000.. I just about shit my pants as it comes in small lumps and I did not know it was that much as I spend it as fast as it gets in my acct. I do not have any money to pay taxes on this as I tied all that money back in more jewelery.. What am I going to have to do? I have no records and paypal will not give me my records.. I send out items for free shipping and that cost me an arm and a leg and then ebay takes so much of your earnings? Am I going to go to jail for not paying taxes? Some one please help me.. I swear I am going nuts and I have anxiety so bad I cant quit crying.. What is going to happen to me? Please help anyone please!!!! I am so overwhelmed....beastie

I just signed into my PAYPAL account. There is a link called HISTORY. I mouse over that and get:

Basick Search
Advanced Search
Download History
Tax Documents
Reports
IPN History

I would think one or more of those choices should be helpful.

I also think Ebay has a 'history' option.

If selling is anything like buying, info should be accessible under Archives in your 'Items Sold' list. Or something similar to that.

I understand paperwork kerfuffles and how all of that can make you feel, better than it might appear from my first reply.

Try taking things a step at a time. Maybe tackle a week's worth of backtracking...make lists, commit things to paper, and keep it as simple as possible. Before you know it, things should be falling into place more easily; and you will be able to get back over those last few months' records, and it will be like it all happened yesterday.

Don't delete any e-mails from buyers. They can act as leads to help you pull the picture together. Bank deposits, & post office records might also be able to help you pull a more complete picture together.

If they are giving you such a large total of sales, there MUST be some kind of records you can access for details.

Don't stop knocking on doors until you get what you're after.

I'm not really sure but isn't there an RSS feed you can access on your e bay account or is it on the e-mail address that you use to contact them...IF.... you can find that RSS feed then that should help you remember all your transactions or at least you can use it to JAR your memory off all that fantastick money you accumulated but missed placed

I found out that there is that history in my paypal that I need to download and it also has documents of all I paid ebay last year and the post office to send out my items...

I tried to down load my history but it said there was too much and they would send me an email when I can do it. My email address is defunct so now I just have to call them, get it changed to my new email, get it down loaded and take it to an accountant and then go from there... I have had such horrible anxiety over this.. But I am heading in the right direction I think and if I have to pay, I will pay payments... and get rid of the rest of this damn jewelery and pay again and stop being manic... lmfao.... ok.. not stop being manic as that will never stop but find another way to deal with it.. sheeshhhhhh... the shit I put my head through.. Its ready to explode.. Thank you all.... I will let you know how it goes... For hell sakes I should have known that someone would want part of my *Winnings*....

Do what you have to do, .. but you can change your PAYPAL email address right online at their website. Log in, .. and change it ... is all you need to do. They will send the email notification to whatever email address you have set up.

The 'history' on EBAY should also help you out.

Here is how I see it:

You sold jewelry to the tune of $77,000 in 2012 according to Paypal's 1099. IRS will consider that INCOME ... along with your $33,000 from your job. IRS and UTAH will want you to pay income tax on that money.

However ... you get to subtract DEDUCTIONS from that income first. THEN pay the assessed tax on the remaining amount.

THAT is where you need a hell of a good professional tax return preparer (now that you have records), ... or perhaps a CPA, or perhaps a lawyer .. to determine what is a deduction.

Your income for 2012 is $110,000 but your deductions are what need to be realized before you know what your tax liability is ... and you have until April 15th to file (without penalty).

And, you can file for an extension of federal and state taxes to avoid penalties.

Beastie, I don't have any advice for you but it sure looks like you've recieved some really GOOD ADVICE from the others.. I just wanted to say that you are NOT DUMB!!!!!!! I know this is causing you alot of anxiety but I know you will get it all figured out. We're all here for you!

Don't forget to claim a deduction for being manic- I am sure that a good accountant can claim your shopping as therapy for your condition! or at the very least as a medication condition over which you have no control! :)
