Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Years back, I had a misunderstanding with a friend and our mutual friend invited us for a Christmas party at their house. I didn’t want to come because I was not ready to see her but my husband wanted us to come. So we went to the party, that friend of mine was there. Even though it was hard, I tried to smile at her and tried to be nice. Thankfully, I was able to overcome my emotions that night. After a few days, we met again and thank God we were OK. We can smile at each other as if nothing happened.
I’m sorry you feel this way. It may be hard to see her but you can try to smile and be civil to her. Praying for you. Keep us posted.
Stay strong
I have been invited to a family member's home on Christmas Eve. Communicating with her and other family members about it has been stressful, chaotic and unpleasant to say the least. She can be cruel, impulsive and hateful and has said and done things to a lot of family members. Many refuse to attend.
I have resigned to the fact that we are going. I am going to bring or make a game or activity to avoid having to just sit or stand around and talk and drink
We'll leave early and avoid any major discussions with her while we are there especially when she's drinking. I can't let this mess up my mood until that day.
How we act and live our lives does come back to us in the end....
Just live your life and take care of your loved ones and let it go. Be pleasant when you see her, but you don't have to engage in tedious conversation or be fake in return. You can be the better person and not let it eat you up inside or stress you out.
Take care,
Kat
