I am sad about the double standers I am facing.
This is the situation. I have 2 kids a girl age 27 and a boy and 25. Both have mental illnesses. My son seems to need my support and guidance. So I offered him to live with me and my hubby. Hubby will do this but is unhappy about it. I do not know his reasons for not wanting my son to live with us. Hubby was willing to let his nephew stay with us.
My son is quite, keeps to him self, doesn't do drugs or drink alcohol. He pays rent and when he can helps out around the house. He even offers us extra money when he has it and is ready to better him self.
Hubby's nephew gets drunk and disorderly 4 out of 7 days of the week. He smokes and sells pot, fights with the cops and other drug dealers and is not ready to better him self.
The dislike of my son runs through my hubby's closest kin. I believe it is caused by my son's unseen illnesses.
It is so bad that we have been offered a place to live (purchase is in progress) by Hubby's parents, but my son and daughter can not live with us if we move there.
Hubby's parents take their adult kids in to help them through their rough times on many occasions.
I don't see why they have such a problem with me taking my adult son in.
Could some one validate me or explain why they have a problem with my son? I have asked my hubby about this and he gave me no answer.

My sister's mother in law draws VERY DISTINCT blood lines; she adores her biological grandchildren (yet there is a pecking order there that appears to be based on who succeeds best in her mind) but only tolerates her step grandchildren.
I could not even guess. The possibilities are too many. Some unreasonable, some understandable.
Practically speaking, . it doesn't matter why. They just do .. for some reason(s). I think you have to just accept that.

Sounds to me like it is resolved .. they are buying a house (already) and you and your husband are going to live in it .. without your son or daughter .. unless I have misunderstood. If so, then they are buying a house .. and neither you or your husband have resolved to live in it. Not sure which.
You all gave me things I need to accept and consider.
@WanderingVet sorry I was unclear about the house. Hubby's parents are trying to buy it right now. they will have an answer in a few days. It is right next door to them, but not close. it's in farm country.
Hubby and I agreed to rent it from them, after we said that; is when I was told that it was just for Hubby and I...Not my kids.
