Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Ok, posted a few times before about various things but now wife says we have to get rid of dogs. They bark too much and eat stuff (shoes, toys, etc). I really dont want to and even thinking about it is making me cry but no matter what I dont want to admit it we probably should get rid of them. Not for the reasons she wants to but because we do not spend the time we need to with them, play with them, or stuff we should. That is probably what is causing their behavior. We just dont have the time with full time jobs and 2 little kids. I know that is an excuse but still.
They are older (like 9 and 10) no one will want to take them and I would like them to stay together. I have asked family before but no one can/wants to take them. I would like them to go somewhere that I could visit them, at least from time to time.
They are good dogs and if they had the attention they needed deserved I am sure they wouldnt act the way they do (which is not even that bad), but for their own sake (or my own sanity in trying to agree with her, or both) I think we need to but I cant do it without at least being able to put them someplace I know they will have a good home and I could visit them.
I have been having a hard week/couple of weeks with everything else going on, streess, other stuff, and being sick, this on top of it is pushing me over the edge to like have a breakdown or something and I dont know what to do/how to handle it (not just the dogs but all the stuff that is going on as well causing me to feel this way).
Any help/suggestions on the dogs and/or how to deal with what I am feeling/going through would be helpfull, or even just some support at this point because I am lost and dont know what to do.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
It's hard because when you look for help it is not always there.
Right now I am trying to expect much less of myself which is hard.
I am just going to decrease my activity and try to rest and do very simple things to keep myself going.
With a full time job and kids I know that this must be hard to do,.
But with depression and stress comes emotional exhaustion.
Try to get some rest and take it easy on yourself if you can.
Please don't put them in a shelter. Keep them and care for them and love them.
your wife knows how much you love those animals too, plus she probably has alot of stress. i feel bad for you.
one time. i was stressed out with two babies, and a not so appreciateve young husband,....well i took my two cats that i loved, put them in crates and left them at the animal shelter. i cried and cried. later we picked them back up.
stress and depression made me do it. those times were terrible.
are you on an anti-depressant and/or mood stbilizer?
this will help you feel calmer, more in control. you can tackle issues like w/ ur dogs, kids, work, marriage better.
i'm sorry things remain to be so difficult. please keep us updated here.
