Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I am glad that you are going to see a counselor. Sometimes medication helps, but sometimes is takes more than one attempt to get the right one. I am glad that you are willing to do what it takes. Complete honesty with your counselor will be particularly important. Like Bcat said, please do not become a statistic. Your life is valuable and precious in the eyes of God.
As others have mentioned, a good support system is important. Tell your Mom how you are feeling... Perhaps a counselor or trusted adult at school, or a youth pastor. Perhaps you may be able to cover with your counselor who your support system can be? These people may be able to encourage you and help you on the difficult days, but it will be important for you to be vulnerable with them to get the help you need.
Hope you are feeling better soon! :)
