Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have been depressed for a good 15 years now, about 4 since I was diagnosed, or should I say, had the courage to try and tackle it. I made some changes to the way I was living and have noticed and improvement. I am not the nervous wreck I was when I was known as Garnish here all those years ago.
I take 60mg of Mirtazapine but I had my other medications dropped as I improved steadily. I mostly take it because it makes me drowsy enough to sleep, which was a big part of the problem for me. I still have down cycles, in fact I'm in the middle of one now but I can see that it will end, that things will improve and although it may be fleeting, it's worth looking forward too.
I am still classified as too ill to work, I have BPD too, the combination can be explosive but I think I am not long until I am ready to deal with people I don't know again on a face to face basis.
It is different for everyone but I found mindfulness techniques help a hell of a lot.
I send hugguns. It may keep going on but there are always ways of handling it and lessening the impact.
