Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I have been out of hospital for about 4 weeks. I am on a whole bunch of new meds. Been doing things with family trying to fake it and enjoy things. I woke up today after a nice christmas party and thought of suicide today no plan but the thoughts were there. I am leaving tomorrow for Vegas and I have mixed feeling about it. I just am wondering if the thoughts of leaving this life ever go away. I always think people would be better off with out me and my problems. I fight the thoughts but a voice in my head tells me to do it and some days it is louder than others. Maybe my meds are not fully working yet. Or the thoughts will never go away. I do not know. It is a hard thing to fight off some days.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Perhaps keeping a thought diary about this would help? (You might want to use code in case somebody reads your words.) Then review your thoughts later so you can see if your suicide thoughts are diminishing or growing.
I do believe that they can go away, but I would not expect them to go away for ever; as you encounter your old triggers, the old responses are likely to come out.
Be strong!

not excited about life but no longer have any thoughts of ending it.
You can get better.
you're already only musing about the idea, that's a great start.
As to others 'being better off without you and your problems' - have you ever really looked hard at that statement? It's one of those concepts that disintegrates under some good hard looking.
I think counselling is a wonderful thing and benefited from it enormously myself. As to suicide: i can't think of anything less in my own personal interests. I've got more selfish as I've cured. Got less doormatty. And as I get more selfish, I'm more inclined to have my life, thank you very much. I only get one, I'm not going to give it away.
For me suicide is a daily clear a present danger. I have all the equipment necessary and the methodology behind my actions. So why am I still here? Because I have at least one reason to survive. Does suicide ever go away? Honestly in my eyes right now no...but I take one day at a time , I cant afford to look in the future. Maybe one day for me it will vanish, all I can do is my best to hang on.
