I have these too. I always thought they were a symbol of some uncontrollable event that you're afraid of.

It's possibly a fear. my mother has a deathly fear of tornadoes. She told me about one along time ago that she had. It was a kid that could control this tornado with his hands and move the tornado where he wanted to and the only way to make the tornado go away was to catch this kid and hold his hands together.

My dreams errr, nightmares to be more specific as I rarely have dreams consist of things I fear. None of them are realistic though. Zombies haunt me in my nightmares. I even bought a shotgun in case the apocalypse just decides to happen one day. In the nightmares I am usually getting chased by zombies, I get my shotgun and the damn thing falls apart. It only started falling apart after I took it apart and put it back together one afternoon. I should have never done that. Maybe I watch too many horror movies? I love zombie flicks and The Walking Dead is back on TV for the third season!!! heh

Tornados

I have a terrible fear of large bodies of water, just scares the crap out of me. I'm even afraid to be in a pool under the water doing laps, if no-one is around. I have come to realize that it may be because I almost drowned when I was young. A bunch of kids were holding me down in a pool and I couldn't get up to the surface, until someone saw what was happening and helped me. Sometimes we just have to try and put the pieces together and see if we can put 2 and 2 together. I hope you will let us know if you figure out what yours means. Maybe we should start an off topic on Dreams....

from what i read from a dream interpretations book dreaming about a tornado means that there is a change occuring or about to happen in your life, i also have dreams tornados.

Oh sunny, I forgot to ask you, do you/have you ever kept a dream journal? It is REALLY interesting to do so and then to go back and see how many times you have had a dream about a particular thing, or what was going on in your life at a particular time.

I started one in November of 1990, and I still add to it. I have only added a handful of dreams in it in the last 4 or 5 years, because I rarely remember my dreams anymore. At any rate, it may be something you want to try. :)

Great idea about the journal. I thought about it years ago, but like many other things I just never took action on it.
My mind is going crazy thinking of all the crazy dreams I've had in the past and trying to figure out this tornado thing

I kept a dream journal for years, if you keep up with it, you will start to see patterns in your dreams. You will start to see how they relate to what is going on in your life. Also making it a point to remember them and write them down will make you remember more details as you develop that as a habit. Dreaming of tornados could mean a lot of things... it could just be something you're afraid of, it could be a symbol of you being afraid of not having control over something, or losing something, you could feel overwhelmed, or the urge to start over fresh with a clean slate. Dream interpretation is something very personal and specific to each individual. You have to really look deep to think about what it means to you and what it's trying to say. I think our dreams are definitely trying to tell us things, and I have always been fascinated by the topic. I dream about tidal waves. I noticed I have the dreams when I feel like I am losing control, or when I feel overwhelmed. Reoccurring themes and symbols are definitely trying to tell you something. Hope all these responses help you figure everything out.

1) Have you seen the Wizard of Oz or other movie where a tornado is prominently featured? If so, how old were you when you first saw the movie? I recall having dreams about tornadoes after watching Wizard of Oz as a child. It's possible the visuals left a "mark" on my subconscious.

2)Did you grow up in a tornado-prone area, one with yearly watches/warnings, tornado drills and the like? I grew up having to take shelter during the warnings, and my schools did drills every year.

3)When you do dream about tornadoes, is it one tornado or several?

3a)Is the tornado in front of you? It may signify an upcoming challenge, danger, obstacle to overcome. It may mean you will have to wait for something to get out of your way before you reach your goal. If there are more than one, it may mean multiple of the above.

3b)Are the tornadoes all around you? That may signify a feeling of being surrounded by danger, or destruction.

3c)If the tornado/es behind you, then perhaps you've made it past the challenge or obstacle. If the tornado is chasing you down from behind, then that may mean that you need to keep going to conquer whatever obstacle or past mistakes haunting you.
