despramine is one of the older anti depressants in the "trcyclic" class.

It can be effective but is rarely used these days with newer more effective anti depressants available

Zyprexa (also known as Olanzapine) is one of the newer generation Neuroleptics which is an ANTI PSYCHOTIC medication.

In my opinion prescribing Zyprexa to someone who is not psychotic is medical malpractice

prior mental health worker and nursing now Ihavn't but have worked with alot of client and patients that have.It's only been a week sometimes it can take 2 weeks to 4 to get the full affect it depends on the individual.Hang in there Zxprexa is a very good drug for the ones who need it and the other mixed with it hopefully will help to give you the full effect it has.Hang in there give it time if it is right for you u will know...

Zxpexa can and is very commonly used in the mental health field/also by doctors who work with these drugs for a few different diagnosis and being used with despramine as another agent may be only what that individual needs.So it is not mal pratice by any means.depending upon that individual history care plan can very well warrant it

anti psychotics like Zyprexa potentially have the worst side effects of any psychiatric drugs
I also work in the mental Health field and I think drugs like Zyprexa adn more commonly Seroquel are over used.

Not only overused but the pt does is not getting truly informed consent.
The doc might call it a "major tranqualizer" and never mention that it is a neuroleptic (anti psychotic)

In my opinion this is at the very least unethical.

I dont disagree with the fact that they can help some people that arent psychotic.

just because something works doesnt make it appropriate to use it

Think of it like giving someone IV heroin for a headache

I had taken Desipramine about a year and a half ago. I was actually up to a 300mg dose. It made me feel "just" good enough to return to work. The only problem was I couldn't stand the excessive sweating that was caused by the drug. I work as a Funeral Director and I was taking 3 white shirts to work everyday because I perspired so much. On top of that I also had to wear a black vest and jacket all day. After about a year on the drug I stopped taking it because I couldn't stand the sweating. It was effective to a certain point but it really never got me back to my normal happy self. If you have any other questions please write me anytime!
