Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
There is a lot of crap in my heads, we grow a whole alternate reality of THINGS THAT ARE NOT SO. But when we stop feeding it with thought, this false reality collapses.
So, we need to stop our thoughts more often through activities that do so effectively.
Look for an activity that forces you to be in the Present, and in your body. For some people it can be stuff like rock climbing, but for me it's been internal martial arts.
Me, I love bicycling, pushing weight, playing golf, yoga, swimming.
When it came back it hit with a vegeance, just like you say. My dog got ran over, I didn't know and for 3 days I was taking her to the vet, but she eventually died, We realized what happened the 3rd day, she died that night. It was horrible, I'd had her for 12 years and walked her every other day. Then my dad found out he has pulmonary fibrosis, and I was crushed. It took a physical effect on me as well, that is still happening. I keep getting UTI's that cause me to urinate blood, and having other female issues as well.
The depression got better when I went back on medication (Cymbalta) but then it hit me again on Friday, and hit hard, I didn't want to get up from the couch to do anything Sat, but my daughter came by and I had to be social, and then started feeling some better. I'm not out of the woods yet, but I'm trying.
