Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I read your post about fighting back a couple weeks ago when I was in a huge slump. I copied and pasted it to my notebook so I could read it again.
I have even posted your words in comments for others.
I started the "challenge to all"thread to encourage anyone who wants to walk with me out of this depression cause I am fed up with it.
We must fight back at these lies we tell ourselves.
I haven't felt like doing the things I need to to get well yet I made myself follow a plan. I am feeling inch by inch a bit better.
Today, I tackled a job I've wanted to do for several years and am finally just doing it! I feel greatabout that and it made me feel better an more optimistic about other things.
I haven't wanted to see anyone or talk to anyone lately and I saw this as a sign of shrinking my world. So I made myself call two people today and I went to town and bumped into a good person I know and had a really nice chat.
The challenge all thread hasn't been a big hit but I guess I need to press on and hope someone is reading it and being helped even if they aren't sharing.
I want to thank you for your wisedom and congrats on beating this evil curse. I AM going to beat it to.
All the best
Yes I remember you :)
I appreciate your compliment , thank you !
You are so right , we must fight back
We dont cause depression to ourselves
but most of the time we tend to feed things that make depression grow even more ....
Im so happy that you got that job
Im sure it was a big accomplishment for you
and more is yet to come as long as you go after them .
Optimism and positivity make a lot of differenceif theyre followed by attitude and I guess thats what happened to you in this cause , you were positive and optimistic enough to have the courage to take on attitude , and that being said , I add that this goes for everything on every area of your life
when you isolate yourself , make sure you do it for recovering and not for feeding bad memories and bad emotions/thoughts , fight your battles and win and when you do they will disappear , of course there will always be problems in life but many thing disappear , specially the ones that are within us but we need to defeat them first , and also by changing our within we can change our whole life , not being controlled by the problems but having control over them .
I see you have a good heart
and dont worry if youre not getting any feed back on your post
Im sure several people went in there and after they left there was a little beautiful seed planted inside them thanks to you :)
No need to thank me paulene
and Thank you for caring
it was very hard but not impossible , nothing is !
Im sure you are
and Im sending you good energies from here
take care and have a great weekend
Paulene, why don't you start a new thread with a different title? It might make it clearer to people what the thread is about. Something like "The Positive Thing I Did Today" ... or "List Your Positives Here" ... something like that?
Anyway, kudos to both of you for working hard to lift yourselves and others up!
no need to thank me and thanks for your lovely words
you really should have hope and hang on to them always
but you need to do your part , have hopes but dont expect from life instead expect from yourself things that you can overcome , things that you can get not thanks to anyone but thanks to yourself , the real help comes from within you !
Thank you
and I hope youre doing the same there :)
