Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I used to take Zoloft for over 3.5 years. It helped me get through a very dark time in my life. I took wellbutrin as well and it was a help as well. However, the side effects were bothersome so I stopped taking it. I stopped then I fell back in another mess, which has me taking it again.
Point I'm making is:
I know exactly what you are going through.
Don't give up, mystery lover. Do make sure to share it all with your doctor, and thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm glad you have a loving and solid support from your family and friends which helps one way or another on difficult days. Not sure if you have tried therapy. Sometimes therapy like EMDR or CBT may help to slow down your ruminating thoughts and calms you down. It might be worth exploring these avenues if you have access to them. Hang in there and I'm praying for you. Take care!
I spoke to my daughter's doctor recently, she said there are many newer drugs out there that can provide relief from depression without increasing anxiety, and also without making you unable to get out of bed in the morning (which is why I had been on wellbutrin, although tbh the sedative I took to counteract the insomnia meant I couldn't get out of bed in the morning anyway).
I've just decided in the end that it's better to go through the episode, and try to manage myself and have the feelings, than it is to try and find any medication that's going to solve things for me. And as I've got medication free, i've ended up on a relatively even keel. I say relatively... I'd say I was in normal range generally speaking.
