depression and lose of interest in spouse

Has anyone experienced complete loss of interest in there spouse with a current depressive episode? My depression started summer 2012 and I got to the point where I couldn't stand to look at, talk to, or even be around my husband. (A lot of resentment for past issues). I moved out for a bit and am back now. I probably shouldn't have. Anyway I feel like he is so needy and smothering for me to show love and emotion. I don't feel it. So how can I show it. It is painful just for me to try and kiss him. I just have no interest. I could care less about having sex. We usually don't unless I have been drinking. Has anyone experienced this? Is it the depression or am I just checked out and need to move on ? Help

I am not married so unfortunately I am not the most helpful in that area. I think a good therapist will help you figure out whether it is the depression or not. I do know as a depression suffer it can put a negative spin on *everything*. The book Feeling Good by David Burns sheds a light on how our thoughts can be so distorted and we don't even know it.

Maybe try making a list of your husband's positive and negative attributes and see if it helps you see things a bit more clearly.

I was once married. I fell out of love with him. I lost interest in sex with him. I left him and it hurt so bad. That was in 2008 and now i'm still single after all this time. I am very lonely all the time. My depression and anxiety have ruined my life.

    Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway.
