Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Have you gotten a mental health evaluation? That is a very good first step. Once you get this done (it can be quick, or it can take a lot of time) the next step is to decide if you want to use meds; just because a doctor prescribes it does not mean you have to take them. I am a big believer in therapy; a good therapist will listen to you and help you find a path that gets you where you want to be.

Faisal is an Arabic given name.
I am GUESSING you are not getting help from family because of CULTURAL differences from the US. You may be Muslim, and I do not know how they look upon mental health issues.
None of that (really) matters. As others have said ... you need a clear diagnosis and then an effective treatment plan. If parents will not assist you in doing that and at your age you are considered an adult, .. then you should be free to obtain your OWN medical care. Of course, there are probably cultural problems or at least financial problems in doing just that.
I have NO knowledge of Middle Eastern/Islamic customs, laws, policies, etc.
On the other hand, you MAY live in the US. If you do, you may find it easier to get mental health care ON YOU OWN, Basically, not enough information to offer you much help/advice.
Clinical depression is WELL known to be treatable/manageable ... if you can obtain that treatment. No matter what ..... do not harm yourself. It is even fairly possible you will 'grow' out of it (just my opinion). That is a gamble ... getting medical care is more of a sure thing. Do NOT harm yourself. It will do NO good. It will make things WORSE.
One of the WORST things we can do here is to suggest specific meds. As "smart" as we like to think we are about depression, it takes a trained professional to properly diagnose depression. (It can look like a LOT of other things.) There are no blood tests or other lab tests that I have heard of that can prove or disprove our depression. Medication is a bit of a hit and miss thing, so working with a well trained medical team is very important.
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? I know it is hard, but it may help us share what has worked for us.
Continuing hugs
Probably the best thing that I can do is.... well, might see a therapist, like I said. I need to be ready, even it was scary.
If you guys ask about myself, okay I'll tell ya. I'm 21 y/o, and I don't know why (I think I've diagnosed with) that I'm so easily get offended, angry, anxious and depression, especially with someone. Normally, if someone made a huge mistake, they'll face it. But for me, I don't. Because the anxiety and depression beats me, I had no choice to avoiding them because I'm afraid they're gonna judging, yelling at me.....
Sorry, I might be kinda embarrassed to tell what's going on with my last event that happened to me until I feel depressed, but if you guys ask and insist me to tell, I'll share with you.
FYI: If only my best friend was here (sadly he's taking a college in The Philippines), might I won't be feel this way....
Thankyou so much for the attention. Hugs back!
Also, can you speak with your friend through skype???
