I had been doing well and feeling pretty optimistic since I started walking for an hour each day nearly three weeks ago, but I feel like I have been going downhill since Thanksgiving. I lost my father about 6 weeks ago and I missed him a lot during Thanksgiving.
I still continue to walk because it has helped a lot with my anxiety, but I feel like I am headed towards the abyss of depression again. The signs are all there. I am not sleeping well. I am withdrawing from the internet friends that have actually been there for me. I have no motivation and energy to do anything. I am even struggling to post and reply to people on DS. I am losing interest in the few things that I enjoy. I am just starting to feel numb and not caring about anything or anyone.
Today I had some pretty dark thoughts about harming myself just so I could feel something, but I don't really have the desire to harm myself if that makes sense. I don't want to die, but it bothers me I would even have these thoughts. I know it's not healthy.
I have a psychiatric evaluation in two weeks, but it feels like the longest two weeks known to man. I get frustrated that I had to wait a month for this appointment when I just want to get help and shake free of this depression.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

Plus, how about a hugg? It can't hurt!!!
Good luck with your appointment. It will get better, hope a med tweak will help you.
Of course you're still grieving the loss of your father, and having him pass away so close to the holidays makes this time of year especially rough. Are there any bereavement support groups in your area that you'd be interested in?
Here's a website with guided imagery CDs and MP3s that I've used. I've found them really helpful. They cover everything from depression to chronic pain ... and grief, too. There's a free 15-minute guided imagery download on the homepage, too.

maxheadroom: Thanks!
susubooth: Thank you!
RichardDelamare: I am sorry you are going through the same. It is so awful. :(
ZAZAS: Thank you. I am going to a free clinic, too. Right now I am not even on meds. The doctor did not want to give me any because he thought the psych would just change them. I guess he didn't realize it would be such a long wait.
etherize: Thank you! I will try that free guided imagery. I am pretty much open to anything at this point.
gramybear: I am supposed to be getting therapy at the place that will do my psychiatric evaluation, but so far they haven't set me up with a therapist. Maybe they are waiting until after the evaluation. I am not even on meds yet so right now I am just left to deal with it on my own. I hate having no one to talk to and I hate feeling alone so I can't wait until therapy starts. I will try jogging to see if that gives me an extra boost. I would like to eventually start running whenever I can afford a good pair of running shoes.
I'm hoping it's because you feel at least a little bit better. I know 6 weeks isn't a very long time to deal with grief. My grandpa past away 3 months ago & my mom still wears black everyday because she feels like the death was too recent & she cries from time to time still which I see as perfectly normal. I mean, it's a parent, we're talking about. Everything you are feeling is perfectly natural.
I'm glad you wrote on here when you started to feel like hurting yourself. At least you're reaching out for help which proves that you are a lot stronger than you think. My advice is just to be patient & wait it out to get your psychiatric evaluation. Good luck.
I wish I could say I was feeling better. I just don't want to let you down so I wanted to make sure I responded.
I am also trying to find ways to cope. I went out for a walk as soon as my mental state started to take a nosedive.
