what do you appreciate so much about her?
May I ask, what did you think of the books? You said you read them, did they do anything positive for you?
Does she give any advice as to how to change the negative things you think and feel towards yourself. The make a list of good things, or look in a mirror and say or think something positive don't work for me. I've tried to think in terms of treat/think about myself like I do others, still have nothing but self hatred.
I agree that many of us suffer greatly from this condition, but have not been able to make any progress. Does she write about how to get to a place where you can begin to think in positive ways towards yourself?
As usual, I babble and hope someone can decipher my question.
Well, she encourages mirror work and following negative thoughts with positive. You say this didn't work for you, how long and how often did you work at it?
It can be very discouraging because it is just that: work. We have to really give these practices a chance to become habit, just as the thoughts of self-hate have. I think about the years and years I have told myself "you're not good enough" or "you're worthless" and I know and realize that it will take time to accept that it's not true. It's is a true life change.
Please look on YouTube for Louise Hay "I can do it". It is a recording of the book read by the author.
If you have trouble focusing or concentrating, maybe put some headphones in and really make sure there are no distractions around you. Listen to it with an open mind, I used to think of things like this as "mumbo-jumbo", but then again what has the negative self talk done or me? Nothing. Nothing but hurt me.
Let me know what you think about it :)
