hey community -

i'm doug, one of the founders of DS, and we're thinking about an idea that i thought you guys could help us out with.

right now when you post a discussion, your choices are DISCUSSION, RECOMMENDATION, or ADVICE. i was thinking about adding more types of things that someone can say...some examples might include:

- Make A Statement
- Tell A Story
- Create A Poll

does anyone have other ideas for "types" of topics that could be created?

btw, i know i've said this before, but we're HARD at work on "chat", and we're hoping to put it up next week. thanks for your patience.

outofhere--the opinion board where no one is allowed to agree or disagree with the opinions posted.....how would you stop people from posting a reply? I think by nature of this being a Community--we want to and do reply...

I like the idea of "Ask a Doc", but what about all of the very knowledgable nurses that we have here on the site already? Some of us have just as much knowledge about medications and diagnosis as some of the docs. Also I thought of new buttons that would take you to "Recovery based links" for other sites that are recovery oriented such as the national empowerment association. A "Controversial" button might be a good addition, however, if the poster doesn't think the topic is controversial, then there should be a way of changing the designation from discussion to controversial. We may find an interesting use for a "political" section that would inform us on different candadates positions on mental health parity and programs, how SSI really works, and general government stuff.

I think the work you've been doing to create, keep up, and patrol the site is amazing..... Oh, one last suggestion.... I belong to a few communities. It would be really nice to be able to switch from community to community without having to go back to my page. Thanks for all you do.

I would like to know how many members in a group in total, it's nice to show the new members too, but a total membership amount for each group would show us the more accurate picture of all the support on the board.

There is a running tab at the bottom of each community you belong to on your bio page, of how many members there are, and how many topics posted.

Those are just the new members I thought cause when you go thru the members list there are very many more than listed, why is that I wonder? i'm new I 'm probably wrong

I suggest we add a "Poets Corner" We have some amazing writers among our members and their writing is great therapy for them as well as us. We love to read their work.
