I had a job interview scheduled for this afternoon. I just called and told them I had to go out of town for an emergency and could e reschedule for next week. She said she didnt know, to call her back next week. So probably that job is out.
I'm running scared. Because of problems at my old job. I never used to be like this, but my confidence is shot. My memory and focus are not what they used to be. I make stupid mistakes. I'm just not "there" mentally.
This morning I had a bad dream. I was working as a checker in a grocery store to make money until a job in my field came up. I've done this before, but I was messing up all over the place. And everyone kept talking about wanting me to be comfortable but I needed to BE there mentally, etc.
I'm scared

Don't let your nerves get in the way you sound like a very strong person and you just have to hold your chin up high and realize that you can do it and the nerves will pass. Good Luck

Confidence doesn't mean we're not scared. It just means we can look fear in the eye, smile, say "fuck you, fear" and forge ahead anyway. I seriously doubt any mistakes you'll make will be as bad as in your dream.

Your dream reminds me of Martin Short's dream in the movie "Innerspace", when he's working the checkout at a food mart, this horrible mean old woman with red hair shows up, and then all the items he's scanning ring up a price of over $100,000, at which time she says "Listen honey, I don't have that kinda cash on me" and reaches into her pocket to pull out a little pearl-handled pistol, at which time he wakes up screaming! His worst fear comes true later on, when Dennis Quaid, in a tiny submersible pod inside his body, is boosting energy to his electrical field, causing that exact thing to happen...but it's only a movie (a pretty hilarious one at that).

I hope you haven't lost the opportunity. Unnecessary distractions and negative self-talk do cause mistakes. When you get a job, after
you aren't so new, things will fall into place.
