Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I thought it might be a useful exercise to start a "confession" thread. The idea is that everyone "confesses" one thing they do that adds to the problem of depression or one thing they know they should do but don't that would help overcome it.
My confession: I smoke more weed than I should. It IS a depressant - smoking too much weed can leave a person fatigued, which is not at all helpful when fighting depression.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

You've taken at least one step which is joining DS - a place where you can share your feelings with people who actually DO understand. Unfortunately, I find that it's just not the same talking it out online with people whose faces I'll never even see... but it does help.
I totally get what you are talking about tho - I've become far pickier over time when it comes to who I talk to about my demons and who I don't. Only a select handful of people who are still in my life are aware and I like it that way. I know who I can talk to when I need to, even though they don't really understand.. they at least accept that what I am telling them is real.
I really hope that you are able to find that one or two people who accept what you are feeling and let you talk it out with them. It's really sad when you can't let out what needs to be let out - but the reality is that in most cases, telling people what's going on inside makes things worse because they just don't get it and whether they mean to or not they make you feel shitty about it...
Mind if I ask what people do/say that is so mean? I'm just totally flabbergasted right now....
I feel like its a free and relativly harmless cure for boredom but I could get so much more done with my life if I didn't do it so much. Plus, I hate the feeling of having to scramble to get things done because I've wasted my time (usually sleeping) yet I do it again and again.
I also forgive people very easily............wait.....I say that like it's a bad thing, when in reality, it is NOT. It is healthy and incredibly doable....too bad not everyone understands that.
