Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
....more like had no time to think about this paper until 2 days before it was due because my school faculty decided to go on strike for 2 and a half weeks thereby condensing our semester into virtual impossibility, and have had 4 assignments due, 2 midterms, and a quiz all last week and by that point was so entirely exhausted and on the brink of insanity and mental breakdown that i decided to take some time on the weekend to relax and recoup.
I started trying to work on this paper on Sunday, but was completely unable to concentrate. Much like now. There is not a whole hell of a lot I can do about it when I sit there and read a whole page only to realize that I have no idea what I just read so I have to do it over again. Which is exactly why I am on here seeking some advice from anyone who might understand what I am going through. Clearly, you have no idea how demanding University is and how awful it is to try to get through University when you're depressed. Think about the last time you were extremely depressed, and tell me... how easily were you able to concentrate on even the most menial of tasks, such as cooking or cleaning or reading a magazine and apply that difficulty to trying to read 19th century philosophy with it's lack of coherent grammar and punctuation rules so praised today and complex subject matter?!
I'll give you $50 if you can actually get through a piece by Rousseau or Hobbes while depressed and actually comprehend the ideas they present. Good luck.
Now... does anyone actually have some advice? Anyone here actually been through school and have some tricks up their sleeves that help(ed) them concentrate? Would reeeeally appreciate it.
