I have posted infrequently on this site, mostly on the meds forum. Just wanted to share with you that you can get through this. Depression doesn't last forever.
Just a few weeks ago I would have protested and said that I'll always feel this way, ill never get better. But then slowly things did start getting better. I/we found the right combo of meds for now to get me out of despair. Talk therapy isn't helpful for.me, but it might be for you. Don't give up. This doesn't last forever.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I know exactly where you're coming from because I spent a long time convinced it would never get better and now I'm starting to understand it's possible for me to feel happy, content and just plain good.
Hold on to that good feeling. It's real and it can get even better than that. Good on you for fighting through it :)
Great post. Thank you for it.

It's really good to hear a success story. I think I'm largely out the other side now too, but I do have the odd silly relapse.
At least I've become self aware enough to start to spot when I'm in this mode.
Depression can be conquered, but not everyone can conquer it. Anti-depressants are a stopgap measure; they distract you and treat the symptoms, but they don't cure it. So for some, especially those with a genetic predisposition, depression is not always treatable.
It can subside, and go into remission when you make changes in your life, and life can be good during these times, but sometimes, a certain situation can arise that will bring it back, and sometimes, depending on the situation, it can hit as hard as ever before.
Our past, our environment, and the world around us makes the greatest impact, and those are things which, for the most part, are out of our control. Therapy can work wonders in helping one recognize and understand the things that tip the scale, and I highly recommend it, but even with that, depression can dibilitate, and isolate.
Unlike physical ailments, it's a distinct and individual illness, which comes in many shades of black. That being said, I do appreciate the encouraging sentiment in this post, and I wish everyone well.
But I agree, if a person's depression is caused by life experiences it is doubtful that medication will be an effective "stand alone" cure.
Thank you for a very heart warming testimonial!!!
