I have been weaning off of Effexor XR for the past two months. I was on 150 mg once a day. Been taking 50 mg once a day for a month and then down to 25 mg once a day. I hate how this medicine has made me an addict! I have been having a lot of neurological issues and wanted to come off of this med because it could have been the cause of a lot of my issues. Turns out it doesn't appear to have been the cause. However, coming off of this is like an addict stopping his drug of choice. I am miserable. I am grumpy, irritable, sad, etc. all rolled into one and to top it off, my brain feels like it is swimming around in my skull. I just want to go back to bed and wake up when I am no longer dependant on this drug. I am trying to be strong and not take it. Even though I know I would feel lots better if I did. I hate that the doctors put me on this stuff and made me an addict. It turns out that my problems were vitamin B12 deficiency instead depression. I am taking vitamin B12 injections and they keep the moodiness that I went thru all the time away. The anti depressant never fixed my moods. That is what I saw the doc for. They are too quick to diagnose depression and not listen to their patients. Yes, I was fatigued and moody...but they should have checked my B12 from the start. I urge any of you to have your docs check the B12 before you start taking anti depressants. I have done a lot of reading and B12 deficiency is often mis diagnosed as depression! just BE AWARE!!!

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

But I have been off now since September (almost 4monthts). There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sending ou all my encouragement and support.
It took almost 2 months for these withdrawals to subside but, they did subside. It has been about 4 months now and I am doing pretty good. I still have flare-ups periodically but, I still feel much better than I did.
