I have been taking 20mgs of Lexapro for the past 12 months, and have been doing very well on it. It had minimal side effects and seemed to work very quickly in relieving my anxiety and leveling off my mood. I would say that it has been a Godsend. About a month ago, I had a bit of a setback following an upsetting time, and the doctor suggested that in order to stave off any backsliding, an additional medication would be introduced. So, now I take Lexapro 20mgs in the morning before work, and Mirtazapine 30mgs at night before bed. What has happened to me? I could sleep 24 hours a day if somebody didn't wake me up. I seem to be dreaming all night. As for the dreams!! I just seem to dream all night. Vivid and bizarre dreams that leave me with a strange feeling when I wake up. And as for my appetite!!! well my willpower is being tested to its limit. I have a 2 week repeat prescription before going back for a review on Jan 5th. Has anyone any experience of this combination? My inclination is to stop taking the Mirtazapine. I have only been on it for two weeks and I do not like it very much.
Mirtazapine (Remeron) made me super sleepy also - I was so drowsy I was afraid to drive.
There are tons of meds, and combinations, that can be effective, tell your dr you can't take the Mirtazapine and you'd like to try something else with the Lexapro. Your dr should be up on all the various combinations that work - if he isn't get a different dr.
If you choose to stop the Mirtazapine before your next visit, call your dr to tell him.
