Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
1) Although this site is available accross all time zones, there are just certain times when it is more busy than others.
2)Some people who have been on here a while, have become regular friends and communicate with each other more often. It takes a while to make friends, and then you will have the same experience. There are over 200 members here now, so it is impossible to keep in touch with everyone equally.
3)There are a few people I avoid because I do not feel comfortable with them. That is OK - in time, you probably will find the same thing happen.
Welcome to DS, and give yourself a chance.
You are certainly welcome here. I hope you and I can get to know each other better. :-)
I know how bad it hurts not to get replies but try not to take it personally.
I have made some good friends here, but in no way do I feel attached to any group whatsoever. In fact, I consider my friends very diverse. I like it that way. It allows me to explore different aspects of them I very much identify with.
I'm being self-absorbed with a point. You're not alone. In fact, don't look to try to be accepted. Just look to be a valuable contributor. It's human nature to want to be liked, but ultimately you just have to be honest with yourself and hope others understand and come to value that.
Keep in mind, if people don't respond to your posts... it's NOT because of you. People will respond to topics that interest them or topics they can relate to. I myself pick and choose, and sometimes I don't even see at all if I'm just glancing.
