Why does everything have to be an uphill battle with depression? I was planning on making 3 kinds of Christmas cookies and give them out for gifts as I did last year. Yet I felt completely overwhelmed thinking about it and wondered how I would do it this time. Perhaps I had the wrong attitude, I don't know.
So I go to make chocolate chip and chunk cookies this afternoon from scratch. All I could feel was that I was completely overwhelmed and in over my head. It was as if I was asked to run a marathon with no water. When I get overwhelmed it's like my brain gets stuck in a fog. I absolutely despise that feeling.
I wanted to make another batch, but I just couldn't do it. It's just too much right now.
This may be a weird rant, but damn I am tired of the simplest of tasks end up feeling like climbing Mt. Everest.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I am very dependent on someone in a business situation. He was explaining to me today why he didn't do what he specifically said that he would do - he also didn't send a text or e-mail - he's hundreds of miles away - his double talk and lies are getting under my skin, and this particular group has become experts at it -once you sign on the dotted line, it's a Jekyl/Hyde situation.
I have to leave things as they are for now, but this 'being left on the side of the road' feeling is totally overwhelming me.
It's a good thing I'm not baking cookies - I would eat all of them!
It would be nice if we could climb Mt Everest once and never have to do it again.
Hang in there. Sending you gentle hugs and best wishes for a better tomorrow.
I hear ya. I ditto what wise man JourneyHome said.
I used to make homemade poppyseed bread and chex mix every Christmas and give it to friends and neighbors. Finally I got to the point where I too felt overwhelmed and it was a chore that I didn't enjoy anymore. Instead of forcing myself to do it, I just stopped doing it and didn't beat myself up about it. Dealing with a panic disorder and depression during the holidays and just getting the 'NECESSARY' stuff done is enough for me and ya know what? That's okay. Next Christmas if I feel the urge to make some poppyseed bread and chex mix then I will.
First and foremost ( I think I've told you this before) take care of YOU. Get done what you have to get done and allow yourself time to rest. I do know you love to bake. Do it when you really feel like you want to and not because you HAVE TO. You got the one batch made and I'm sure they are delicious. ( Do you need my address to mail them to? lol ). Depression SUCKS. Be kind to yourself and that's an order. Love you!

I hope all of you that are struggling with being overwhelmed will be able to just relax and be kind to yourself. :)
The cookies were fantastic, though. They were the best batch of chocolate chip cookies I've made. I wish I could send some to all of you kind people. :)
you know I love you!!
It is nice not to feel alone.
