Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
First of all let me welcome you to Daily Strength. I am sad for the reasons that brought you here, but happy that you found us.
Clinical Depression is not a death sentence. It is a revelation of what is going on with you. Many people experience a feeling of relief getting the diagnosis; they finally have a label for what is going on with them. Now that you know what is happening it is time to take action.
Are you getting therapy? That will help a lot. The goals are many, but learning what triggers your depression is very important. Then you can work to manage those things. Sometimes we can only avoid our triggers, but as time passes and we learn more we can learn to minimize them, and possibly overcome them!
Medication can help, especially if your depression comes from a brain chemistry thing. If not then meds may help much like a cast does when you have a broken arm. They will not solve the problem, but they will help you until you sort things out.
How long will you feel like this? As soon as you realize you are not alone the feeling should go away, at least a bit. As you learn to cope, that feeling will go away some more.
Sooooo, as you get to know us, and interact more here, you may find that somebody here has similar issues to you, and you can learn from them. And they from you!
The biggest thing I learned is that there is no such thing as a one size fits all solution. Things that work for me may be a disaster for you, and things that do me no good may be great for you.
Sorry to go on and on,
again welcome to the group.
Gentle hugs
Yes i have 2 therapy drs and stress management classes i attend
I felt like this since march of this year. I just want to feel like i did a year ago
it takes a long time but it's worth it, because you cover a lot of ground in this state, growing, changing, evolving and developing. The new you is much improved on the old you. it's bigger, and has better apps.
So you just hang on in there. it sucks but it's worth it.
