Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I could've written this post. My house is one of my worst enemies. I am so exhausted when I get home from work, I don't want to clean or do more work. Then I get more depressed because my house is a mess! I want to hibernate and forget it all...
So I have been trying to do JUST ONE small thing at a time. Not "CLEAN THE BATHROOM BY 6PM!!!!!" like my mother used to write on my to-do lists like it was the end of the world if it wasn't finished at 6:01. Just one little thing, like wiping off the counter or windexing the mirror when I go to wash my hands. When I get a drink from the fridge, I throw out something that needs it. Little stuff like that. It breaks up the gigantic, enormous, world-ending task into bite-size pieces. Sometimes I do well and take a few bites. Other times, not so much.
That's how depression is for me. Some days you carry the invisible 500-lb. weight, and the bathroom gets cleaned or whatever. Other days you get crushed by the weight and do nothing. You are not a failure when the weight crushes you. (Someone please remind me of that later.)
I can't even think about a part-time job right now...so don't be so hard on your self....
sorry i can't offer more advice...and I hope we feel better soon...
You know what helped me when I was depressed, I followed it for years,.www.flylady.net it's freehand really helpful...talks about adopting one good habit a month..and even helps with depression in my opinion.
You wouldn't be so hard on a friend, so try not to be so hard on yourself my friend. You deserve kindness and patience with yourself.
You've got a good hubby there. Ginseng IS good. I also like ginger. Maybe pop a Vitamin D. It makes up for the lack of natural Vitamin D we normally get from the sun during the summer months.
Fascinating study. Basically, if you are a woman and you go home after work and have to clean, your stress level does NOT decrease AT ALL unless your partner helps out. If you are a man, your stress level only decreases if your partner handles everything. In other words, it's a catch-22!
Breaking things down is always good.
Hell, sometimes I've had to break down something as simple as a SHOWER when the depression was really bad! Whatever it takes, eh? Be good to yourself :)
On thing, you said you have a lot of stuff. Do you need it all or is it just niche naks or dust collectors as my Mom use to call them. Are there things in there you can do without and get rid of the clutter. This was hard for me, I was always the more stuff the merry. I have run out of room for stuff. I don't put out much due to the kids but by getting rid of some of the decor and clutter, I don't feel so overwhelmed by cleaning. Just a thought.
