Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Now you're removed from them, I hope you will feel more energised. I hope you at least got yourself out of the car by now?
And yes, it's really hard to do this when it's your own family, because we feel like we've abandoned them or even empty as you said, because it's as if we've lost a physical part of ourselves. But knowing when to leave space for time apart is wisdom. As I mentioned before, you can still pray for them or send a card or letter (communicate otherwise), etc. And, it doesn't mean the relationship is over forever.
Finally, I am a believer that it's harder to be there for others if we are beat down and oppressed, which is what it sounds like is happening when they mistreat you. So, taking time to heal and be well so that you can share you loving nature (and it sound like you are such a person) to others is worth it!
